There is a protective outfit that soldiers wear in a battle called armor. We have an adversary in the battle of life and God has prepared armor for us; but we have to put this armor on. As we put on God's armor by faith, we cannot lose in life. Ephesians 6:10-17 gives a look at this armor we are to put on to walk victoriously. What benefit is this spiritual suit of armor? Ephesians 6:10-11 says, 'Finally, my brethern, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.' So putting on the armor of God is how you stay strong in the Lord, and how to stand against the strategies of the devil. In the world, they say "Dress for success." Men of God, let's suit up into God's armor. We need to put it on every day to walk in success.
Ephesians 6:13-14 says, 'Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;' We are standing on the truth of the Word of God. We plant the truth in our hearts by meditating, confessing, obeying and believing God's Word. When we conform our life to the truth, then we can have what we say according to Mark 11:23. The belt of truth keeps us balanced and steady. This causes Godly character to rise up in us and be seen by others around us. The breastplate of righteousness is a revelation of who we are in Christ through His blood sacrifice. We are able to have right standing with God without the sense of guilt or condemnation. Second Corinthians 5:21 says, 'For He has made Him (Jesus) to be sin for us, who know no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.' Ephesians 6:15 says, 'And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;' This peace gives great direction and sure footing when everything else is shaking. 'All of wisdom's paths are peace' (Proverbs 3:17b). When you follow the peace of God, you will make wise decisions. The devil likes to get us in a hurry to steal our peace. As we walk in peace, God is seen in us. Ephesians 6:16 says, 'Above all, taking the shield of faith, where with you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.' The devil and the world are firing at us over and over again. So there is great advantage to having your shield of faith up. The enemy is after one thing, and that is your faith. Second Corinthians 5:17 says, 'For we walk by faith, not by sight.' We have to use the shield of faith or life will be limited. When we call those things that be not as though they are (Romans 4:17). Then they shall be done. That is living! Remember Noah preached that a flood was coming and built a ark in a drought. The world thought he was crazy, but who was riding the waves of the flood. It does not matter what anyone else thinks or says about you. Ephesians 6:17 says, 'And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God:' Salvation means complete wholeness: spirit, soul and body. Nothing missing and nothing broken. When I am putting on my helmet of salvation, I like to meditate on 2 Timothy 1:7 which says, 'For God has not given us the Spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.' Finally we are told to take up the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. This is the only offensive weapon in God's armor, the rest are defensive. Hebrews 4:12 says, 'For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.' The sword of the Spirit cuts the devil and spoils his plan against you. The sword of the Spirit also changes us from the inside out. Faith and obedience will help you in using your sword effectively. Now having put on the whole armor of God, we are ready to stand and take dominion today and every day, in Jesus name! Put on God's armor, keep the devil under your feet. Praise God for the victory.
